BrewMeister Vickie is contributing four Empty Nest Beers to the St T’s school auction in Ann Arbor.  These include:  Oatmeal Stout, Hazelnut Brown, English Pale Ale and West Coast Hop Ale.  Her former co-workers are excited as they have become frequent samplers…..hee hee !

Special Beer For Chelsea

In Ann Arbor, Vee and Roger are making an Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Vanilla Flavored Scottish Pale Ale.  Claire will help us with the Beer Tasting in Dec 2011.  In the Photo above the Lovibond Color Comparison is pretty close.  Only true beer geeks can tell the Real from the Empty Nest Brewing version.

We entered three beers and took Honorable Mention (4th place) for our Empty Nest Brown Ale.  A total of over 800 competing beers from 320 Brewers.

Our home in Ann Arbor now has a British Style Pub.  Many photo’s of the UK and other beer paraphernalia. Our first visitor was Nick on a trip from the UK back to the states in Aug 2011.

Honorable Mention- for Empty Nest Brewing Brown Ale, 38 points = Excellent.  Versus 830 entries and over 300 Brewers !

2011 Competition (Ann Arbor Brewers Guild) over 300 entries for 23 categories

NEW- June 19, 2011 (RECIPE CATEGORY now has the Scotch Ale and English Pale Ale included) 

 Medalist (second place) for the Empty Nest Brewing Pale Ale submitted by Vickie and Roger.   Judges comments included: Nice little bitter. Good malt flavors and aroma. Coppery color with brillant clarity and pours with an ivory head. Long lasting head.          

Medalist (second place) for the Wee Scotch Ale submitted by Roger B. and Dana DeJohn. Judges comments included: good malt flavor, with a balance of malt sweetness and light bitterness, smokey aroma as it warms, dry finish, very enjoyable beer to drink.

ENGLAND- Inklings

THE EAGLE AND CHILD-  Home for Tolkien when at Oxford.  A full imagination due to zymergy.  The picture is from 2011; but we first went to this PUB in Oxford in 1979.

KINGS ARMS- Here is the first Oxford pub we had Pints of Bitter as students in 1978 and just last month as visitors (May 2011)
